Celebrating the beauty of life, the glory of art, and the miraculous wonders of humanity, while declaring war on fusspots and prisspots everywhere, and having a lot of fun in the process.
We visited this castle in the late eighties. There is another one not very far from there, where they stayed during the construction, (I forget the name) which we found to be far more interesting, from a historical perspective. I agree with your title, "19th century fantasy at its best"
"All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renewed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king.”

I like the interior! real artistic. Gives a sense of energy and comfort art the same time
King Ludwig liked his comforts and micromanaged the whole design and construction process.
I wish this place wasn't such a tourist trap...The tours suck anyway. It would be a marvelous place to live.
Generally, tourists should be thrown to the lions.
That reminds me. I should look through that cd of your pictures again.

Eso
I've always wanted to see this place. I would even make an effort not be one of the more annoying tourists.
